Lava Hot Springs
Idaho's geothermal playground — Olympic swimming pools and natural hot springs in one small town.
"Idaho's Hidden Gem on the Snake River Canyon"
Miracle Hot Springs sits on the rim of the Snake River Canyon in southern Idaho, a region with one of the highest concentrations of geothermal activity in North America. The springs emerge from basalt cliffs at 130°F and are cooled to soaking temperature in a series of pools overlooking the canyon. The setting is dramatic and largely undiscovered by tourists.
The springs were used by the Shoshone-Bannock people for centuries. Commercial development began in the 1930s. The current facility maintains a low-key, local character that has kept it off the tourist radar.

Combine with a visit to Shoshone Falls — the 'Niagara of the West' — just 20 miles east. Spring runoff makes it one of the most powerful waterfalls in North America.
Miracle Hot Springs exceeded every expectation. The water temperature was perfect and the setting is stunning. We arrived early to beat the crowds — highly recommend doing the same.
Loved the mineral pools and the views. It does get crowded on Saturday afternoons so try to go mid-week if you can. Staff was friendly and the facilities were clean.
