"Ghost Town Turned Luxury Hot Springs Retreat"
Dunton Hot Springs is a restored 1800s ghost town in the San Juan Mountains that has been transformed into an ultra-luxury all-inclusive resort. The entire property — log cabins, saloon, dance hall, and all — can be rented exclusively. A natural hot spring feeds a bathhouse and outdoor pool, while the surrounding Weminuche Wilderness offers world-class hiking, skiing, and fly fishing.
Dunton was a silver mining town in the 1880s. After the mines closed, it was abandoned for decades. In the 1990s, European investors purchased the ghost town and spent years restoring every building to create one of the most unique luxury properties in the American West.

The saloon still has the original 1800s bar. Having a whiskey at the same bar that miners drank at 150 years ago, then soaking in the hot spring, is a uniquely American experience.
Dunton Hot Springs exceeded every expectation. The water temperature was perfect and the setting is stunning. We arrived early to beat the crowds — highly recommend doing the same.
Loved the mineral pools and the views. It does get crowded on Saturday afternoons so try to go mid-week if you can. Staff was friendly and the facilities were clean.
