"North America's Only Multi-Mineral Hot Spring"

About This Location

Ojo Caliente is one of the oldest health resorts in North America, operating continuously since 1868. What makes it unique worldwide is that it's the only location where four different types of healing mineral waters — arsenic, iron, lithia, and soda — emerge from separate springs in one place. The high desert setting with adobe architecture creates an atmosphere of ancient tranquility.

History

The Tewa people called this place 'Posi-ouinge' (green place of the bubbling waters) and used it for healing for over 12,000 years. Spanish explorers documented the springs in 1598. The current resort buildings date to the 1880s and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Absolutely worth the drive

Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs exceeded every expectation. The water temperature was perfect and the setting is stunning. We arrived early to beat the crowds — highly recommend doing the same.

Great soak, busy on weekends

Loved the mineral pools and the views. It does get crowded on Saturday afternoons so try to go mid-week if you can. Staff was friendly and the facilities were clean.
