"Japanese Mountain Spa in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains"
Ten Thousand Waves is a Japanese-inspired mountain spa perched in the pinon-juniper hills above Santa Fe, blending the aesthetic of a traditional Japanese onsen with the high desert landscape of New Mexico. Private hot tub suites, communal pools, a full bodywork menu, and the acclaimed Izanami restaurant create one of the most complete spa experiences in the American Southwest. The mineral water is heated and treated to replicate Japanese onsen chemistry.
Founded in 1981 by Duke Klauck, Ten Thousand Waves was inspired by the mountain hot spring resorts of Japan. Over four decades it has grown from a simple outdoor tub operation into a full resort with lodging, dining, and one of the most respected spa programs in the country.

Ten Thousand Waves exceeded every expectation. The water temperature was perfect and the setting is stunning. We arrived early to beat the crowds — highly recommend doing the same.
Loved the mineral pools and the views. It does get crowded on Saturday afternoons so try to go mid-week if you can. Staff was friendly and the facilities were clean.
